What kind of bachelor degree is required for optometry, ophthalmology and dentistry?

I may be in error here but I think all of those require Doctorate Degrees.
Your bachelor degree really doesn’t matter a great deal as long as you get into medical school. Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biophysics, and Biomedical Engineering are popular choices.
Most of the time I wouldn’t think the kind of Bachelor’s degree would matter. Professions such as that involve a professional school that will take you beyond a bachelor’s degree anyhow. You do, however, want to make sure you take the appropriate undergraduate courses to prepare yourself for the professional school. I would think that degree in some type of biology, human biology, etc would be the route to go. That would give you a very good undergraduate resume for professional school and also allow you the freedom to choose which profession you want to persue.

Since those are all biology/health related fields, the degree of choice is a Bachelor’s in Biology. Typically, there will be a concentration attached to this degree. For instance, a pre-optometry student would declare themself as a Biology Major with a Pre-Optometry concentration. All this would mean is that you would have to take certain classes within your biology degree to fullfill the pre-reqs for optometry school. This rule applies to both pre-dent and pre-med students. So yes, one degree would allow you to apply to all three schools, but 2-3 classes might be different within that degree to satisfy the requirements.
