Histoplasmosis

GENERAL
A systemic fungal infection. Human infection is acquired by the inhalation of the mycelial form of H.capsulatum in air contaminated by soil particles containing chicken or pigeon droppings and not by direct transmission from any animal species.

IRIS... granulomatous iridocycyitis
CHOROID... chorioretinitis
RETINA... maculopathy, scattered yellow "histo" spots, when a choroidal scar is present near the fovea the patient is forever at risk of loss of vision from the development of a subretinal neovascular membrane
OPTIC... disk edema
