HORNER'S SYNDROME

GENERAL
Paralysis of cervical sympathetic; hypothalmic lesion. Caused by a total or partial interruption of the sympathetic chain anywhere along its course from the hypothalmus to the eye.

OCULAR SIDE EFFECTS & SYMPTOMS

SYMPTOM... diminished sweating on the ipsilateral side of the face
ORBIT... unilateral anhydrosis, enophthalmos
LID... unilateral ptosis (paralysis of Muller's muscle), elevation of the lower lid
IRIS... unilateral miosis (variable and more marked in dim illumination than in bright illumination), pupillary reaction to light and near are impaired
