Organic cosmetic and skin care

Organic refers to material that does not contain any synthetic substances or chemicals. With chemical substances found to be harmful in food and skin care products, products that do not contain such ingredients are becoming popular. Such product is referred to as organic skin care product. Organic cosmetics include translucent liquid foundations, mineral foundation powders, concealers, blush shimmer creams, mineral blush powders, translucent powder, bronzing dust, lip creams and mascara.

Organic cosmetic and skin care products include those that contain isopropyl palmitate, a palm oil derivative, apricot kernel oil, bis-diglyceryl caprylate ( caprate/isostearate), cetereath - 12 (organic emulsifier), glyceryl stearate ( vegetable derived), vegetable triglyceride, sage extract, chamomile extract, linden extract and balm mint extract as ingredients.

As a number of people who are concerned about the toxins in our environment become vociferous, more and more skin care product companies are declaring their products to be either natural or organic. Natural refers to something that is "existing in or formed by nature, not artificial". Many labels of products contain chemical names, some followed by the phrase "derived from..", which misleads the consumer. For example, chemicals such as Cocamide DEA or Sodium Htdroxysultaine are "derived from" coconut oil, making the consumer believe that these synthetic chemicals have natural origins. This may be true in some cases but, after chemical processing what remains can be anything but natural. To prepare Cocamide DEA, a synthetic chemical called Diethanolamine - DEA, has to be added. Diethanolamine is a known carcinogenic. This renders the product neither natural nor safe.

Organic cosmetic and skin care products perform many functions to help the skin. They cleanse, exfoliate, condition, moisturize, hydrate, treat and mask the skin. If the skin is not cleansed well, it turns dull, forms flakes and the oil glands in the skin choke up with dirt and tissue waste, causing congestion. Organic cleansers eliminate the dead tissue layer, sweat, pollution and surfeit of oils, turning your skin soft and rejuvenating it. Conditioning skin is a two fold function. First, to supply the skin with nutrients from organic herbs, vitamins and essential oils and the second, to provide a hydration base for applying the moisturizer later. Moisturizing erects a protective shield against free radicals and moisture loss, which causes wrinkles. Thus organic cosmetic and skin care products help protect your skin.
